Public running has now re-commenced.
Trains are now operating on Sundays throughout the year, from approximately 1200 to 1630, or later if there is sufficient demand.
Operation is dependant on the weather, and having sufficient staff available to operate in a safe manner.
Drivers Eye View of Ground Level Track
The circle is now complete and a number of members have successfully run their locomotives on it. Appropriately, the first member to sample the new circuit was Ian Stewart with his "Ajax", the same combination who were the last ones to use track in it's old location at Clayton West. There is still some work to complete before we can open the track to public running, however, mainly involving some raising of the base level to permit safe evacuation of passengers, in the event of a train failure or accident. Some passenger coaches have been obtained from our friends at Sheffield, but more will probably be needed. A new secure storage facility for the various items of equipment has also to be acquired, but the traverser and steaming bays have now been installed and are in use when needed.
Working parties are currently undertaking routine maintenance and construction work on wednesday afternoons and evenings. Please feel free to visit our site and view the work in progress, ask questions, or just have a chat with one or more of our members. If you are a current, past, or possible furture member, feel free to come along for a chat and catch up.
